Newby VCDS Question

Featured Replies

Have just purchased VCDS but the manual does not appear to have been written with a new user in mind. Is there such a thing as an introduction to VCDS manual to take you making a few simple changes to get you used to the system.

Am concerned that learning by doing could cause serious problems as the manual has lots of 'do this at your risk' statements all over the place.

Doing a scan is easy but am reluctant to play! without better guidance.

VCDS is basically a pro tool, so always heed any cautions with care.

The key is to always make sure you do a full scan first and save it, then save it again :) You'll find your confidence will build with it, the rosstech wiki is the best place to start for some help.

I always try and work on VCDS whilst connected to the web, as this enables the 'hover over' guidance bubbles.

If you are changing anything from a coding point of view, write down or screen dump the original coding so that you have a means of 'going back' if things do not work out.

For me it's a case of if in doubt, don't.

All members cars that I have worked upon are very understanding in the sense that I advise them if I'm not confident carrying out what they're asking.

Never a Truer word was spoken Mr J5
