Help - underbody engine protection

Featured Replies

Sadly, my nearly new (to me) Yeti had a little ...erm...ahem...contretemps with a couple of kamikaze sheep one dark night last weekend, resulting in some front end damage and enough mutton to last me well into the new year (only kidding or should that be lambing!!). Anyway, the Yeti is in the body repair workshop and I couldn't remember if there is an alloy underbody plate at the front end of the Yeti, and if there is then it's now absent from mine. So I'd be really grateful if anyone could confirm whether there is or isn't one. I don't mean the RRP equipment, just the standard cover (or not as it may be). And if there is, does anyone have a photo so I could confirm this with the workshop and they can order accordingly? Much appreciated.

I did check the scene of slaughter the following morning for bits, but couldn't spot anything, although I guess a shiny bit of alloy plate might attract all sorts of nefarious fingers in these austerity struck times. I also reported, dutifully, the accident to the farmer once I managed to track him down, who assured me that these were his very best, prized and award winning sheep, that they were so much loved they were almost members of his extended family and that bereavement trauma therapy might need to be added to the insurance claim - baaaaaa humbug!

Tsk! And yes, before anyone says it...I appreciate that he may be 'trying to pull the wool over my eyes' and 'fleece me', so please don't ewes such cliches as they are completely tired and lamb-entable :)

As far as I'm aware the petrol models without RRP do not have a under tray as such, just bits of splash guard trim leading back from the bumper. Diesels do have an under tray for soundproofing rather than protection, therefore protection is only offered if you have the steel (to Aug 2010) or thermo plastic guard of the RRP.

Thanks for the speedy reply TP. It might have been my confused memory of the Octavia Scouts' front ends I also checked out before purchasing the present Yeti.
