How to reset the "oil" warning?

Featured Replies

He everybody,

Everytime i turn the engine on i get an "oil" blinking in my dashboard.

I have checked the oil and everything is fine i guess the guy i bought the car from forgot the reset that thing when he changed the oil.

It s more annoying than anything else.. how can i reset that thing?

Thank you

Kind regards

Thom

Hi there!

Is the oil light you refer to a little red oil can light? Does it go off when you start up and drive or does it stay on all the time (accompanied, perhaps, by a beeeep)?

No, I think he's refering to the service indicator which is the word OIL flashing where the odometer is when you start the car up. Mine is currently flashing INSP as I'm due the 80k service - best scrape some cash together

I think he means the word 'Oil' in the computer display?

It's in the manual how to reset, I can't remember though!

D'oh! Forgot to post the instructions :o

- hold trip reset button in

- turn igntion on still holding button

- let button go twist to right

- press button again till oil appears

- twist right again

- turn igniton off

- job done

on my octavia i did my own servicing as it was out of warrenty and i kept getting the service light on the dash but ignored it as the car had been serviced, after a while the yellow oil warning light came on. i think it came on as it thought i hadn't seen the service indicator and was wanting a service according to its memory.

i think there is a procedure in the manual for resetting the service indicator

bugger, too slow :o

Beat me to it!

It stands for INSPECTION and means the car is due it's annual inspection service which should occur every year or 20k miles, whichever is sooner :D
