rear suspension / alignment troubles

Featured Replies

right after a recent ppi reclaim octy is getting some money spent on it, one of the jobs was alignment so i took it to my local 4 wheel alignment centre, when all the gear was set up my rear wheels were/are sat at -2 deg camber (i thought they were out my last rear tyres sawtoothed quite badly). The reason they are still sat at -2 is that everything is siezed up, this is where i need some help / advice and the correct terms for the suspension components.

ive found this pic from the part no. sectionpost-48213-0-56457200-1354656005_thumb.jpg

when i was underneath with mech he showed me the bolts that were siezed up ,on the diagram it is bolt 11, through bush 8 in part 7

part 7 i presume is lower suspension arm, bolt 11 eccentric bolt , this is the bolt that adjusts the camber i think. it is rusted quite solid in the metal bush lining and he didnt want to crack it off and split the bush.

next he showed me the other bolt that was siezed for the toe correction and i couldnt really see it very well , so can someone point them out for me on the diagram it looked like it was up past the spring above where the anti roll bar attaches , but im not sure.

edit ive just looked at diagram again and it looks like bolt 10 is the eccentric bolt for toe adjustment and it is siezed in bush 15 which is housed in part 13.

i took my car for a service and told them about the bushes and they said they would try and free them off, which they didnt, they quoted me about £300 to replace lower arms and the other part i dont know the name of. Im unfortunately loosing faith in them (local vag specialist) but thats another story.

anyone else had any of this trouble and mangaed to free it off without replacing everything

any advice would be greatly appreciated

ps the reason its all corroded i work at a mine where we mine road salt and my car is parked about 50m away from a pile of the stuff and it blows all over the place and is also spilt on the site road most of the time !

I was in a dealer about the very same thing. The bush is not available separately but comes complete with the arm and hub centric bolt. I'm in Ireland and was quoted €80+vat each side for the parts.

Please keep the post updated if you go through with the repair.

Hi There,

Did either of you change the upper and lower rear suspension arms and fix the alignment problem ?

I have the same issues still.

Thanks

Eric
