Steering arm ball joints.

Featured Replies

Please---how much to supply and fit 2 new steering arm ball joints Octavia TDI 1.9 mk 2.

How long is the job.

Just a ball park figure will be great. So I can work out if I need to sell one of the kids.

Thank you.

Depends on where you take it. Option one is the dealer with several employees involved to schedule your service, order your parts and actually do the job. The other extreme is the guy with blue greasy overalls in a small garage. He might have changed five thousand steering rod ends since he started his business in 1970 and does a better job than the 19 year old kid at the dealer workshop. On the other hand, he might be an idiot that gets the steering geometry wrong which compromises handling and wears your tyres out.

Both outer tie rod ends plus a laser alignment afterwards is about 30 minutes worth of work, I'd say. Good quality parts, maybe (I'm guesstimating) £60?

These are significantly cheaper, but that's before garage markup (and he wants to sell you the parts, it's what he makes his living off of) and I'm not sure about quality.

i think the OP is asking for Lower Ball Joints not track rod ends? http://www.eurocarparts.com/basket.php

If so, £36 @ Euro Car Parts using Discount code brisk25 at checkout, id guess a garage would charge an hours labour, so +£40...ish + tracking....£20ish

Total £100..ish

No, the image he linked to was for track rod ends.

He just used the incorrect name in his post. Which has lead to confusion.
