Skoda Octavia TDI 110 Turbo probs

Featured Replies

Hi

Hopefully i'm in the right place, my car has just started loosing power, it's fine when the turbo starts to spin then looses boost and regains it again etc. its worse in say 5th gear and you want to accelerate but after about 3000rpm it just sort of sits there...

any ideas guys?

regards

Steve.

Hi

Cross-posted elsewhere, any ideas why the turbo seems to boost up then loose power, the cars a 2001 tdi 110 has full history and has covered 116,000  miles and it seems worse after 3000rpm.i hope its not a worn turbo as i understand they are a touch expensive..

cheers

Steve. :o

More than likely the Mass Air Flow Valve, had one fitted about 5 months ago on my old octy that had done about 100,000 miles at the time. There is plenty of threads on here about it.

I had the same thing (I think) on my 2001 Y reg 90bhp Octavia Estate. I replaced the air mass meter (aka MAF sensor) and instantly the car drove like it used to. Before I replaced it I tried cleaning it with electical contact spray, to see if it made any difference - but it was a waste of time.

You should be able to fix it yourself - 10 minute job. You need to take care as the part is quite sensitive and will not like being dropped etc. A new air mass meter will cost

MAF Sensor in my opinion ... Sickness No 1 :D
