Skoda assist

Featured Replies

My assist and extended warranty is up for renewal in January and it is £57 pm. I'm thinking of not bothering simply because the warranty doesn't really cover a lot anymore. It seems to me that even though you have warranty you still have to pay out diagnostics to the dealer anyway.

Anyhow, I travel around 5k miles per year mainly to and from work. Can anyone recommend a breakdown provider? In the past I've found AA or RAC quite expensive but have been impressed with RAC knowledge.

+1, I'm with Britannia

It may be cheaper to get breakdown cover included in your car insurance.

As they bulk buy, they get a good rate.

On my insurance it's about £20 per year extra, which seems very good to me.

A tad confused here... Are we talking about Warranty for the car of are we talking RAC / AA type Assistance & Recovery Services?

I answered the only question mark. :)

So we talking both but asking about only one, Breakdown Cover :)

Warranty, especially the extended one, is a bit of a minefield and all the small print needs t obe carefully read before buying. I think it is worjt remebering that there are independed warranty providers sometimes offering much better "cover" than extended manufacturer's warranty.

As for the Breakdown Cover I get mine as a perk with my banking account as well as Skoda Assist for the duration of warranty I understand. Skoda Assist is using RAC.

Agree with Boss Fox on this, though it'd probably be an idea to see which company actually provided the breakdown assistance so you could see if they are any good and what level of cover you'd get.

Personally I've used my Tesco Reward points to get our RAC cover for the last few years. It's the main reason we've got the tesco credit card (bung everything on it each month then pay it off so no interest), well that's nearly correct as what I have left in vouchers I double up on the wine vouchers so get some bottles of red to celebrate with too (normally they have the offer on November time each year on their tesco finest range of wines) As far as the RAC cover is concerned I got Joint cover at home, rescue, recovery and onward travel for £58 in tesco vouchers. Single membership was only a tenner cheaper so even though I've got Skoda assist for the BL I had joint in case I'm out in the wife's car and it throws a sicky. the other plus is because you do it via tesco points you don't get stuffed on the premium next year if you have to call them out.
