Curse my freakish ears

Featured Replies

They look normal enough but I must have weird ears because they can never hold on to earphones without them falling out. Normally use those sports type earphones that hook over the top, but the thing is I want to use them with my phone, which has a socket that slightly smaller than the standard headphone one. It's an MDA compact/XDA mini - thought it had a standard headphone socket but it doesn't - it does look like a standard nokia type handsfree socket though.

So, can anyone recommend either a stereo handsfree kit that has sporty-type hooks or other secure fixing method, or maybe some after-market product to fit to my existing earphones to hold them in (preferably one that doesn't involve bulldog clips or wrapping sellotape round my head :D )?

Oh OK well it's sorted now. It's a 'standard' 2.5mm jack as opposed to 3.5mm which all UK headphones are...thought of getting an adaptor but that would mean losing the handsfree functionality so instead I chopped up my headphones, handsfree and soldered them all back together so that I now have stereo earphones of my choice, together with the handsfree mike and button to answer calls, all working fine. The in-line mike and volume control is in a little case that prises open with a knife so all my soldering is concealed in there and it looks completely professional

You are a technological genius.

Can you fix my toilet?

Saaaah! (Laughs uncontrollably).

Dear JPreston

Glad you fixed the problem  (know what you mean)

So that's why menfolk take the newspaper with them then, meaning that (ideas-wise) it will come eventually...

For we womenfolk, any chance of a "reverse microphone with seriously mute switch" (what?). First so that you can't hear our singing whilst we spend forever in the bathroom, and secondly so we can't hear your shouts of "hurry up for goodness sake" :D

It's the flush. It keeps sticking. a microphone would perhaps assist my karaoke fantasies whilst on the throne, but I fear it would not reslove the toilet defect.
