Flickering In car lights

Featured Replies

I have noticed when I have my window wipers on intermittent - My in car lights flash just before the window wiper wipes and after.

Anyone had this before? It doesn't do it all the time..

Are they LED lights?

Yes.

That's the answer then.

To avoid this you need the canbus type with a built in resistor.

Basically because of the low resistance and low power of the LEDs the nominal voltage and interferance from other electrical systems can cause them to illuminate.

In my felicia I had a Stebel airhorn fitted and when I used the horm my LEDs used to glow. You may also a very slight glow when they are switch off.

Umm.. I wonder if this is the reason why when I put them in the rear reg plate light it blows them after a few days!

Not sure.

I used to get LED bulbs for number plates etc and they woulnd't last two minutes.

The last lot I bought over 12 months ago and they're still working. Went for the canbus ones as like I say they have little resistors built in and it's maybe this that makes them more resiliant to power spikes etc.

You got a link? :D

I know you've got your answer now but mine do this also, its the 501 type led, has 20 small leds (4 on each side) one of the 20 is always lit very dim and flashes like you say when i press my wipers.

Reguarding them blowing, i bought a few the same from the same guy gizmo or somthing on ebay, i got the reg type ones in two differeny sizes, somthing like 38mm(6led) and 42mm(8led) the 8 led ones have lasted much longer.

Yours flickering too?? :p - I have learnt to live with it lol.

I'd buy these for the side ones

I just searched for canbus 501 for the two map lights. Mine look very similar to these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-ERROR-FREE-CANBUS-W5W-T10-501-5-SMD-LED-SIDE-LIGHT-BULB-/251187135541?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a7beb8435

For the middle one you need a 42mm festoon so search for canbus festoon 42. Mine looks like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-43mm-C5W-Canbus-Error-Free-Interior-Festoon-LED-42C8-/260776408209?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb77c3491

The second one in that pack also came in handy as it fit in my boot light.

I think the two numberplate ones were actually from halfrauds as one of the previous bulbs went and needed replacing so I just bought LED ones. They're not canbus ones but are still working fine over 12 months later.

Having exactly the same problem.. When my wipers return to rest the interior lights flash.

lol.

I bought some of these (Your second link)

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cb77c3491

Lasted about a week :(

Ah right.

I have a feeling they are the exact same ones I bought and from that seller.

I got some and one of them was very dim.

Emailed them and they sent 2 more out straight away and not had any problems with those.

I guess with anything there will always be some dodgy ones in such big batches produced.

Phil

Halfords do LED number plate lights, CANBUS ready too,, not too expensive as well,, il find the link for it later

on my fab if an interior light blows i.e door lights or centre interior light the radio plays up and the dash lights flicker
