Just ordered vRS and have a question re Central Locking

Featured Replies

Just ordered a Fabia vRS which I should hopefully get in a month or so. There is an offer on the Skoda website where central locking can be recoded by the dealer so that it locks the doors when travelling about 10 or 15mph which would be quite handy.

Does anyone know if this is set automatically on a new vRS or would I have to request it at the time of ordering?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Regards

Alan

It's only a five minute job for a dealer or someone with the VAG-COM software , so they should be able to do it for you prior to collection

Alan,

If it's the same as mine then it won't be set when you receive the car. However it's easily set or reset by the dealer and they should be able to do it for you when doing the PDI or later.

Enjoy your new car!

why bother you just have to press the button on the drivers door above the electric windows to lock and unlock the doors any way

I am sure your dealer wouldnt mind doing it (hopefully for free)

Its a handy feature for sure, every little helps :)

Would you remember to do it every journey?

Any way it makes you look and feel flash

5 minute job?! Takes under a minute with VAG-COM and is just setting 2 codings ;)

i set this on one of my cars through the alarm and i hated it. really annoyed me when i pulled up to let people out or in

Only have to pull the interior handle twice and the door opens.

that makes it easier but my cars weren't like that.

ive ordered my fabia and i think i'll be gettin it done as i've had a toad alarm that locks after 10 secs of startin the car so id like it :)

There is an offer on the Skoda website ...
Interesting - can't find anything there listing "offers". I knew about this possibility but not as an "offer", but through reading the handbook. So what other "offers" are there of this sort?

Wasn't it part of their 20 pound "winter inspection" they were offering? Have no idea if they're still doing it but I'm popping into my dealers next Friday so I'll have a look.

It's a great feature - like Walkie says, it's just cool!

Who cares about the practicality - I'd have bought an estate if i wanted that!

I agree, if you want to lock the doors it takes one touch and its done. No need to have them locked all the time - just when entering Pleb-ville type ares it gives you peace of mind...

Even if it does take 'two pulls' of the door release the passenger doesnt know that and always looks perplexed when the door doesnt open! :)

I believe the boot can be opened when all the doors are unlocked though which means that when you pull up to some traffic lights, toerags can come and help themselves (I friend of mine lost his laptop this way). And with VAG-COM is easy enough to reset if you change your mind - mine is still that way after 15 months ;)

the boot automatically looks after 15 seconds i think, well it does on my octy...

My laptop takes 2 minutes to boot up though!

Hmmm - I'll have to try that as the guy who had his laptop nicked was driving a Passat I think. I know the car locks itself after 30 seconds if you unlock it but don't open any doors, but wasn't aware the boot locked separately...... :D

Chris

Just checked the handbook and it says "the handle below the licence plate recess is deactivated once the vehicle starts off and vehicle speed is more than 5km/h. The handle is activated again by opening the side door".

So, I guess that they can open the boot after they've opened one of the back doors and cleared out anything on the back seat ;)

Chris

Get the anti hijack turned on. I did when i picked up my 05 vrs takes about 2 mins. Then you don't have to worry about remembering to press the locking button.Just drive away and its done.....
