Climate control not so great.

Featured Replies

Being new to newish cars – coming from 20 year old Saab to a 2009 (2008 MY) Octavia I consider it to be virtually new.

Never had air con before never mind climate control so thought this new newfangled climate control would be pretty clever.

In colder weather my favoured in-car climate is toasty feet with lots of cool fresh air to face – easy done in the Saab (easy even in a non air con 1979 Saab 900). So, no problem with climate control then – well turns out it is.

Not many heating sytems give the abbility for diff temp to the face and legs. Its same temp for both.

Doesn't really have anything to do with climate control or not. The Octavia just doesn't have the ability to mix heated/cooled air with air straight from outside. It's a pretty rare feature - I had it on my Volvo 850 and my first gen V70. The feature was dropped for the second generation and as far as I know it hasn't returned to Volvo cars after that.

I also know the E39 BMW 5 series has it, and a handful of older Mercedes models.

My A8 can do it, I though the centre vents in the dash provided cool air. You simply need to override the climate, and press the appropriate button on the controller to open them manually.

If you have dual zone you can reduce the temperature of the passenger side and aim the vents towards you.

Climate on hot and directed to your feet and then open your window slightly?
