Aerial and car washes?

Featured Replies

I need to treat my car to a good car wash and I used to use the IMO car washes with under body clean and waxing.

Must have been something in it as the car lasted me 13 years and was pretty good underneath for all that time.

My old car had an automatic aerial, so was fine in the car wash when switched off.

Is the aerial on the Octavia car wash proof?, or does it need to be removed?, and if so do I need to plug it in any way.?

The IMO wash is of the revolving brushes type.

TIA

is better to get it removed.

Remove it and brush washes are terrible for your paintwork.

remove it and brush washers are ok,they are new type with foam/sponge based brushes and not the old ones made of plastic

Terrible terrible things. Would you get a strip of foam in your hand dip it in water then repeatedly slap your car as hard as you can with it? I doubt it so why is a machine doing it any better?

I have seen loads of cars scratched to funk by people running the car through a brush wash every week.

I frequently was my car on tunels, for 4 years, the paint is in good shape, neved had a scratch

I've taken the pick up through once and although no particular problems was a bit worried part way through the process that it wouldn't register the shape of the vehicle and possibly contact!! As a result since then have reverted to the trusty bucket/brush & hose ;)

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll take note on the car wash method. TBH I've never had any problems with paintwork on my old car(s) and I've used IMO since they first started up.

You actually use an automated car wash with brushes?

OMG!!!!

Swirl City?

Shine a strong light on your paintwork...You will be shocked at the damage

Its the swirls they cause!

Mega no no for any1 who cares about their car!

Black cars are the worst! My new car needed a full compound machine polish from the previous owner using drive through washes
