Heater flaps & control unit - how do you re-sync these?

Featured Replies

I was out today showing the VRS to a potential buyer. And the heater decided to stick on full hot.

Ive previously replaced the heater flap motor with a new one & the heater control dials with a 2nd hand one. It seemed to be fine after that was done.

I removed the battery last week to see if that was the misfire issue. Could this have put them out of sync.

Do I have to get this done with vagcom? Or is there any other way?

It's done with vagcom. I managed to do it with my scanner tool after may attempts.

All fixed

What did you end up using in the end? I need to replace the air flap positioning motor (or so I believe I do) as the recirc button isn't working. I heard it needs re-calibrating once installed into a vehicle but only have VCDS lite.

Thanks

I'll show you.

This is what I spent the afternoon in the pi55ing rain doing!

Started off looking up the back of the dash and I found this:-

The cage that holds the heater flaps motor had come loose, the bottom clip had broken off - meaning it swung away from its mount. Even though the motor was turning when you turned the dial - nothing actually happened & you got cooked.

So stripped the dash & centre console and removed the motor & cage

My dad & I modified the end clip mount. The clip itself had snapped off (found it inside the plastic trim panel) leaving the lowest mount to just swing free. So we drilled a small hole and put a screw though it, so the screw sits into the slot the original clip should mount into.

New owner is coming tomorrow to collect it. Hope he's happy with my hard work!!

Wow, thanks for the pictures.
