Connecting cigarette lighter

Featured Replies

Hi all first time poster. Have a question about connecting the cigarette lighter in octavia 09. Checked the fuse and that seems fine. Never used it before so I assume the car comes un connected ? If possible I would like to do myself but can bring to a dealership

Welcome to the forum!

I've not heard of the car coming with the cigarette lighter disconnected, although that's only in my limited experience with the UK-spec models. It reckon that it should be permanently live, even with the ignition switched off. Hopefully, our other Irish forum folk will be able to say.

If the fuse test OK, then I guess it must be a loose connection somewhere.

Same problem with mine fuse in dash ok,but told nt Audi tech to check fuses under bonnet

The contacts within mine were coroded so much that it wouldn't work. I've no idea if this was just down to abuse of the socket by the previous owner or a weakness with the part. I brought a 'fiberglass pencil' from maplin to clean the contacts and hey presto, fault fixed...

Hope this helps.
