Carbon Octavia centre (audio surround) dash trim part number?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Can anybody tell me what the Skoda part number is for the carbon centre console that surround the Columbus head unit?

My car has a silver surround but it is scratched and showing black beneath it.

I was tempted to have it painted shiny piano black but then saw this carbon version in a vRS for sale (see photo).

Thanks in advance

That looks like the oe part with a carbon effect wrap.

Yep, that's not the oe part on the latest vrs. That's wrapped.

Be very interested in where you got the pic though as it looks like all the silver trim has been done too, something I've wanted to do (or piano black it) for a while...

I wrapped mine the same time I did the grille

I've since sorted the crease at the bottom

Just on this note, i wrapped the radio surround in gloss black but was wanting to do the upper surround (the one around the vents and upper glove box)

Anyone know how it comes out?

Have a search for project carbon wrap by vRS Carl, he did this on his pre-FL vRS, looked very good in real life.

Is wrapping the centre surround thing easy to do? Do you heat the carbon stuff or something to it shapes to the contours of the surround?

The whole assembly is just clipped in, lever a trim removal tool between the dash and the assembly. The two front clips are located under the vents, then simply lever upwards and remove. Watch out for the hazard switch wiring and you can then wrap it.

I have a friend who has a new Mercedes C200 CDI Estate.

He had all of the trim (which is maounted quite similar to the Octavia's) covered in real carbon fibre and clearcoated... Looks simply gorgeous... :p

A lot of heating and stretching was done yes and being honest it took me 2 hours or more quite an irritating job and some swearing involved too

Thanks, this would be ideal but then I realised it's for FL Octavia II models, my dash is different unfortunately

Cheers. Looks ace with the carbon trim. Definitely going to look into doing that with mine at some point.

Oddly enough that garage is literally around the corner from me. Looks like a lot of car for the money too...

Just found a company that specialise in custom interior parts. I'm going to send them my centre console surround to be made into gloss carbon finish. Check out www.wickedcoatings.co.uk

Incidentally the central surround of my Octavia vRS is £30.00 in silver from my local Skoda dealer or £5.00 in black (from the base spec cars). I've already had the existing silver one painted by a local firm although I'm not happy with the finish. They used automotive exterior paint. Looks ok but close up it's slightly rough to touch even though it's gloss finish.

I would put up a pic but you need a URL ??? Why can't i just upload from My Pictures.

How do you post photos like this on the forum?

Upload them to photobucket and copy and paste the IMG code into your text box. In use the photobucket phone app to do this. Quick and easy too

clear coating the carbon wrap could be a very nice finish anybody tried it? would give it that real carbon effect. Anybody got any tips on refurbishing the gear knob mine is getting a bit of wear on top?

Can you let us know how this goes as I've seen some of their work elsewhere and would be interested in getting some work done myself
