crazy speedo

Featured Replies

HI,

I've a 1.9sdi fabia that has developed a fault. It started after going through some water during the floods. After going through the puddle, the car drove fine for half a mile. It started to loose power, so i parked it by the side of the road. It restarted and idled fine, but when put underload it would stall. I towed the car back home and left it for a couple of days.

The car now drives fine now. But the speedo goes to full speed when i drive forwards. It carries on afterwards, even when stationary with handbrake on, even the mileometre keeps increasing.

Any ideas where to look first?

TIA

There is a little electric sender with 3 pins on top f the gearbox near the back, it's probably full up with water, I would try unplugging it and spraying it up with wd40 and give that a go.
