Thinking of changing

Featured Replies

I currently have a fabia 1.6 cr 105bhp diesel and the economy around town is nowhere near what Skoda say it should be. I now only do about 7000 miles a year and was thinking of changing to a 1.2 tsi fabia and wasn't sure about dsg model as have heard of problems with the gearbox anyone have any suggestions? And if so what consumption are you getting? Many thanks in advance

As far as i am aware there are very few if anybissues with the dsg box a couple have failed but they get replaced i wouldnt worry drive one and then you will know its the best thing. Very few people dont like the dsg box its just soo quick compared to any other auto (that i'm aware of) and there was info going about that reckons its quicker then a manual

The DSG 7 is the most reliable DSG VAG do , with no inherant issues (i.e recall ect) and will often run 200k without any problems... I love mine, and will never go back! lol..

and at that kind of miles and drivivng situations, the 1.2 could even be more economical, given the cheaper price od petrol and the faster warming up times ;)

Thanks for the tip

I was getting 40/48 mpg combined 1.2 TSI(86)ps manual. If you want a DSG box you have to have the 1.2 TSI(105)ps

After about 5k I'm very happy with the DSG box - I'm getting about 43 mpg with a mixture of town and motorway which has included some heavy car trips (family and luggage!) which whilst isn't as good as Skoda say but isn't bad.

Just don't go too fast on the motorway as the economy drops off quickly due to the brick like aerodynamics!

The engine feels livelier than 105 ps.

I'm thinking of changing also, from a fab vrs to a gti ed 35 but we will see.

Changing car is nearly always expensive, tends to wipe out any potential savings in fuel economy in my experience!
