Accelerator Problem

Featured Replies

I hope someone can help. I have a 2006 Octavia VRS.

In the past few weeks i have felt that when I press the accelerator I get less power and the car feels less responsive.

I did the throttle reset, throttle pressed to the floor and ignition switched on for 30 secs, but it only cures the problem for about 24 hours before it returns back to less power etc....

Any ideas what may be causing this problem

Cheers

Is it petrol or diesel? Is it remapped? If it's petrol and remapped it's probably your diverter valve but that would be unaffected by throttle reset.

In the olden days I would have said creamed up fuel filter for sure. Service history good ?

It's petrol and not remapped.

Service history is good as well all main dealer. Creamed up fuel filter is that an easy fix or a hard one!

I *think* it's in a weird place on these cars; strapped to the inner sill, near side under the fuel cap by the rear wheel (please don't quote me) should be a an easy replace / inspection - I doubt they are more than £20. From having looked under my car I think the pipes are quite tight, so care may be needed to not break pipes or pipe holders...

But this being a fancy pants ECU car - I would have thought a quick VAGcom diagnostics check would let you know the issue - if it's fuel flow the filter would be first attack point point, for me - If you talk nice (or look nice) the local garage may well run a diagnostic for free for you

Experts will correct me very soon! :)
