Are the new door seals that skoda has got any good?

Featured Replies

Hi all I've just new to this and have read all the topics on the door seals. I have a 04 fabia black vrs best car ever but it has the dreaded rear door seal problem. Rang skoda and they said it's not a big problem but for 200 pounds they could replace the seal. I think not!! but they said that it was a different seal that they used now. does any one think that it's worth me buying these "new seals" and fitting them myself?

John

No, just use plumbers gold to seal the carriers up for £10. Search the site for info on the sealing of carriers

Either way they'll still want 200 notes :o Read up about how to do it yourself and save yourself a lot of dosh!

This is a relatively simple DIY job - there is plenty of help, guides on here - all 4 doors in around 4 hours ( incl a brew ! ) for £10 worth of sealant - dont forget to buy some door clips first cos you will definitely break some !!

as far as i know the last of the mk1 Fabias had the same door seals as the first ones

While they may be using better ones now i'd imagnie they are mk2 specific and won't fit your car.

As said above it's a piece of pee-pee to seal them up yourself

I just followed

Thanks to all who replied. Went in to skoda to order the door clips and got chatting to the parts bloke, turns out all they do is get rid of the old seal and use silicon to seal it. I think plumbers gold followed by door clips is the way ahead, not getting my 200 pounds.

Thanks again

John

The dealer I purchased my car from used the official Skoda "repair kit" to seal my doors, the repair only lasted a few weeks before the leaks started again.

I pointed them in the direction of this forum and they carried out a repair using a moisture curing sealant, haven't had any problems since.
