To fix or not to fix

Featured Replies

my old man gave his broke 55 plate mk1 octty vrs but the top oil pump went and its been limped home for about 5miles. How much will it be worth in its current state or how much to fix and then how much to sell it for.

I would whip the sump off and replace the oil pickup strainer. After that run it and see how it behaves? You may have been very lucky and get away with just that?

this has been done and now its got a grey\blue smoke when running someone said might need a top end rebuild

Driven 5 miles with no oil pressure? Replacement engine would be the easiest way to fix it

would it be just the lump that i needed and then use my turbo/ancillerices(im thick sorry) and is it just plug and play after that

It's likely the turbo seals wouldn't have survived either, with no oil pressure. Hard to say without seeing it.

chances are you have blown turbo seals as mentioned due to reduced oil flow / starvation as the pick up pick was blocked. Common issue.
