Here I am again, with another problem.

ABS warning light came on, plugged in mini VagCom, fault code 00597, googled for a bit.

All four tyres are definitely the same size and equal pressures...they were bought a month ago. I am lead to believe it is either the ABS sensor or some rings issue on each brake hub. Could anyone guide me on how to go about checking these myself...I am a rookie, you see. I presume I have to jack up, remove each wheel etc...but not sure on what exactly to look out for.

No warning light on the journey back home. Plugged vagcom again and no new fault codes. Can code 00597 resolve itself or should i still get it checked out?

If it does not, as you say remove each rear wheel in turn and also the brake drums, you will see a shiny ring at the backplate, using a cotton bud dipped in methylated spirits, carefully clean the outer surface of the ring and also the sensor head that pokes through the backplate, then re-assemble.

The normal cause is brake fluid dripping from a leaking brake cylinder which then attracts the shoe lining dust and renders the sensor inoperative.
