Time for customizing!

Hello people I have some q for you(again);)

Some time ago, I had changed front/rear badges on my Sup. Now I want to change badge on my steering wheel and put new one( from City go, to match front/rear badge).

Is that possible?(I mean I will easily find out will dimensions correspond or not, but Im a bit of scared for airbag).

Second q(and it will be more in a few days), did or did not sunglasses holder fit in Superb from Passat or Audi?

Are they same?

I would imagine the sunglasses holder is the same as a passat. In fact if I remember correctly quite a few people fitted it. As for the airbag/badge I'm pretty sure you will be ok, but might be worth disconnecting the battery prior to fiddling.

Hope this helps.

There is a sunglasses holder in my Superb Edition 100. A quick glance at the Skoda parts catalogue reveals a Skoda part number of 3B0857465B available in two variants, Y20 pearl grey and 4K1 ivory.

I guess that does mean Passat part is suitable - if it was exclusive to Superb it would be a 3U part instead of 3B.

I was asked that because I have found lot cheapier VW sunglasses than Skoda sunglasses.

I coudnt belive.

I have in mind to put Seat Leon Cupra R splitter on front of bumper, and to buy cargo net.

But my dealer doesnt know if there is a OEM cargo net for Sup. If I coudnt find part number for that cargo net can I bought from VW?

Also, I want to know is there Superb bag(like I saw on Octavia and Fabia in trunk?)

Well I have more q for you nice people, and if Im boring please forgive me;)

I want to buy Touareg tourch, and Im interested(I supose it will fit, but just in case) can be fitted to Sup?

Can someone(I count on you) because I dont have ETKA, find out part number for ASR and heated swiches?

Tnx milion!

ASR switch is 3U0927133A (variant B98 for Satin Black)

Seat heater switch is 3U0963563 (variant B98 for Satin Black)

Superb bag, I expect eBay will be the answer. I don't believe there's an official Skoda one, although there may have been at one time.

There was a factory accessory 'Net Program' for the Superb Mk1 just as there is for the Mk2, but I can't find a part number for it at present. Once again, eBay may well be the answer.

Oh - worth mentioning that the parts catalogues can be found online at http://www.vagcat.com/. You have to register to get full access to the catalogue, but it's worth it.

Definitely worth disconnecting the battery before fiddling. I normally discharge everything by keeping the brake pedal pressed for 30 seconds with the ignition on after disconnecting the battery. Probably not entirely necessary, but I prefer not to take risks with explosives...

Ok, but!

I have bought new steering wheel(leather with perforation) wich has airbag, and I will go to my mechanic to take of my old steering wheel with airbag intact, but I wanted to check if there is possibility that airbag explode, when I change badge.

I talk to my mechanic, and he told me to take risk and first take of badge from old steering wheel, and then(if airbag dont explode(hopefully) take of from new one).

I just not sure if it is glued or it is a peace of airbag.

Front splitters are pretty easy to find in the Uk buddy. Pretty much any Seat dealer has them in stock for around £20-£25. They tend to stock them because so many non-seat drivers order them. If you end up getting really stuck finding one, drop me a PM.

If it helps, part number 1ML 805 903

Nice one!

Thank you soooo sooooooo much!

What screws you had used, and how many holes have you drilled?

You helped me so much with my Sup.

You and Nackuk, king of kings;)

Oh I almost forgot how did you recoded instruments cluster? It look absolutly amazing!

Hello mate.

The front splitter was really easy to install. It needs cutting on the sides slightly because the side part extends past the front wing and into the wheel arch area by maybe 10cm? It's no big deal. Make sure it's centered and mount the splitter into the underside of the front bumper. Then get a very sharp knife and you can cut the sides precisely in the wheel arch. Cutting it whilst on the car means it fits exactly to the wheel arch.

At this point I have to be honest with you. When I mounted the front splitter I only mounted it temporarily just to get an idea how it looked. I meant to take it off again and re-measure it for the best possible fit, but it looked good and it was stable ... so I left it. I used 6 or 8 screws. Just drill a small pilot hole through the splitter and bumper where you want it mounting, then screw in a regular self-tapping screw slightly bigger than the pilot hole. You don't need big screws either. 3cm deep is fine. The splitter isn't a structural part of the car, it's just for decoration.

As for the instrument cluster recoding, that requires some cables and software. I know some people charge £20-£25 for it, but if you pm me a picture of your current dash cluster I should be able to tell you if yours can be recoded. If it can, you'd need to read the eeprom data from the cluster (you'd need a cable and a laptop to do this). To be honest buddy, if you really wanted the cluster recoding and you were to send me the eeprom data in an email, I'd code it for you and send it back. All you'd need do is to upload the recoded eeprom back to the cluster. You can have only the needles illuminated, only the dials (10,20,30,40kmh etc etc) or just the digital displays (clock, mpg, distance etc etc) ..... or any combination of the three. For the full maxidot displays you can also change the welcome message and enable the miles-to-empty feature, but I think your cluster would already have those enabled.

As for your Audi pedals question, I have no idea, sorry. My pedals are still standard, stock, boring, OEM, dull, mundane, etc etc ... but they work.

Cheerio mate.

Ok, I cant wait to install it!

It will arrive for day or two, because I had to order from Seat dealer.

On yours it look fantastic, and I like it very much.(we have same colour car ;) )

In my country sadly we had to drive with lights (day-night)! And I dont like very much green ilumination, so I want just red nidles! :)

I will try to find cable(I have laptop), and I will read the eeprom data, and send to you.

I would be very gratefull if you could done for me. ;)

Actually I didnt fully understand you-well I understand pretty much all, except of this part:"For the full maxidot displays you can also change the welcome message"-Thats because my english is very poor, but Im trying to improve.

My servicer change me from Checz to English language, what else can be done? (Now I see, info about seatbelts on english ;) ). Maybe see Skoda logo, if it could it would be awesome!

Oh yes, I forgot, I have just two small q, I hope so it doesnt bother you: :)

1.) When I was dealing with the prevention of water ingriss, I had used some high quality silicon, but sadly with a very bad smell.

Now I was trying to convince myself, that it isnt big deal and it will transpire but I can not foolish myself anymore. When I want to get in my car I can smell it, just a little but for me it is really annoying. For other people maybe not but for me....hmmmmm :( Is there any easy cure? And did you had same problem? I have bought some very expensive car parfume, but it isnt helped very much..just covered that smell.

2.) Accidently I didnt know what Im doing and change a display of maxidot(dont get me wrong I have just touch buttons)...I have lost my average consumption fuel, and I got average consumption fuel that changes while I driving.

I want to be fixed e.g 15L/100 km, like I had before. I try reseting, changing and nothing helped. I lost my hope that I can remember how to set it. Pls help me. ;)

MilanM, if we're going to do this I have one thing I need you to agree with .... never apologise for your english again, ok? Your english is perfectly fine. I wish I could speak another language as well as you speak english.

To answer your questions:

1) I'm not sure if the dash cluster can be recoded if the lights are on permanently? If that function is made by software (eeprom), or it could be a hardware thing? I have seen the latest VW Polo (6R) have the electrical pins on the headlight selector dial wired differently so that the lights are always on. So, I cannot be 100% certain if we can change the illuminated needles only. I will try to find the answer.

2) Water ingress and silicone sealant. How long ago did you apply the silicone? Once it is dry, the smell should disappear really mate. If you want to improve drying time, try running the cabin fans for a long time on a warm/dry day. I'm thinking it would cause air to pass over the pollen filter and help it dry?

3) I'm not sure about average fuel consumption data ... I don't have a maxidot display. I only have the poor man's version. :D I know there are two trip computers and two settings for average fuel cunsumption. One resets itself after approx. 2 hours of being parked. That's the "trip average". The other is always an average based since you last reset the computer ... it does not reset until you reset it. That is the "overall average". If you have a little number 1 in the corner of the display, you are looking at the "trip average". To switch between them, press the button on the bottom of the windscreen wiper stalk.

It sounds like your computer is displaying the "instant average", the average that shows you how many mpg you have at that exact moment in time. In my car, I just press the wiper stalk button to change the display. If you want the average fuel consumption you need to keep changing the display until you see a Ø symbol. That is your average. (see below)

Hope that helps man .... and stop apologising for your good english, you make the rest of us who only speak one language feel embarrassed.

I didn't mean "instant average" .... there is no such thing. I meant "instant mpg" .... sorry.

1.) No, no no, I manually turn on lights.(day and night). On my car lights are not always on, just when I choose. ;)

2.) I talk to my passangers, and actually they say me that they cant notice bad smell. It looks like just I can smell it, but interesting thing is that I can smell it just when I get in car. Right after It doesnt stink. :wonder:

3.) Actually you helped me a lot! I need little number 2, and I have found it. Tnx

Hahaha I didnt think in that way, I will not apologise any more. :whew::giggle:

1) I see, good news then. Send me a photo of your instument cluster sometime. Hopefully, it can be re-coded.

2) Maybe your passengers are too polite, or maybe you are crazy? Both are equal possibilities mate, sorry. :p
