Register New Battery with ECU?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am about to change the battery in my 2010 Fabia2 TDI 1.6 105 hatchback. I'm going to largely follow the instructions in this excellent Briskoda thread as my battery fitting and type are very similar:-

I know that I may have to recalibrate the auto windows setting and allow the radio to relearn it's code but I also came accross this page which indicates that "a change of battery must be registered with the control unit" :-

Has anyone done this or am I looking for a problem where one does not exist?

Also, please note that the link above is not spam as I have already ordered the Exide battery from Europarts using the Briskoda discount code at a much lower cost to that linked above.

Grateful for any info.

When I disconnected my battery over the summer to do some electrics work there was no issue with reconnecting it and didn't have to do any resetting or coding.

You may get some warning lights come on but a drive around the block should sort them out

Thanks for the comments guys.

Just to follow up. New battery arrived just after lunch time. Did the change over just now. Did the key turn to make the windows self calibrate, reset the clock and the radio went into learn mode as soon as it was switched on and burst into life after about 30 seconds.

No warning lights, so all looks good.
