are skodas cool now?

Featured Replies

I'm going to utter the phrase as a former Alfa owner we all say "I loved my Alfa"

ALWAYS in a past tense

Never a truer word said.

Skoda = Not cool, but a good car

I bought a skoda because it was good value.

tbh. there are very few New cars that are available that would be classed as a Cool car by my logic

I've been lucky enough to drive a fair selection of (other people's :D) Alfas and loved every moment of them, especially the 75 with the beautiful V6. Never managed to convince myself to buy one though...

Yeh they're nice when you can give them back to the owner after the HG goes! lol

I get ripped for driving a Skoda off one mate with a Corsa and another with a Seicento Abarth (I do have a soft spot for the yellow tin can though!)... Always good fun when they can't keep up :D

Well the Corsa is no blood better than a Skoda... so he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about!

I never even knew they did an Abarth version of the Seicento!

How can someone who owns a corsa know what they're talking about-if they did they'd own something else.....possibly a Skoda

IMO very few cars that are currently in production could be classed as 'cool'

Most are no longer available, though the initial outlay is no measure as to whether they are cool or not.

So a cool car could be looked at in the same way as a beautiful woman- both cost more to keep than they are usually worth and get admiring glances in equal measures!

According to a certain JC - No, but then how can you take someones opinion seriously that a car is cool when they buy an overpriced Ford that will only get you to your destination( just ), breakdown & not get you home, do less than 10mpg, an be impossible to get in & out of in a car park.

A car is only cool if it sells lots of wall posters.

I've not had a single negative comment about my Superb, or my L&K Octavia before it. Same for SWMBO and her Yeti and the Octy vRS before that.

There are still a few people I know that wouldn't be seen dead in a Skoda despite admitting they are very good cars. That is purely badge snobbery. One person I know would rather have a washed up, tired old Audi A6 than a relatively new Skoda.

Frankly, I couldn't care less, I love my Superb and that's all that matters really.

Aye, they did a Schumacher version too, they're pretty much a Sporting that's been tweaked. Has to be said, it does sound good :p As for the mate with the Corsa, he should know better, he had a Polo 9N before! '59 plate Corsa SXi 1.2 and it's slower than mine, harder to drive, not as economical (not that mine is!) and doesn't have as much kit. Even the Corsa Design misses out on heated seats and back 'leccy windows, and mine's 12 years old! OH, and they rattle :D I ran a Vauxhall for a time, never again! It was a 1.0 Agila and I loved it's simplicity, and that I could get all my gear in. Had a 1.2 new Corsa Design for a while whilst my dad's Landy was in being fixed and he ran the Agila to avoid putting miles on the Corsa, and it was horrible. 5 Door I learnt in wasn't too bad, 3 door we had - couldn't see out of it, took ages to warm up, the engine was constantly strained (that's after coming from a 1.0!) and it didn't get on with the snow at all!

Give me my Skoda / VW any day!

Škoda have never made or come to that never will make a cool car IMO.

Very good cars yes - better than most of the competition, but certainly not cool.
