odd vibration under load of oct tdi 02

Featured Replies

Hey all,

After fixing my fuel issues I have been driving a nice happy octapus around again.

However I had a car loaded with people the other day and under acceleration I noticed what felt like a very mild missfire?

This is not present at idle or at higher speed when less throttle is used.

The car starts and runs fine with no smoke or issues.

I have noticed that whilst driving if I very gently press the clutch pedal, I can feel the same misfire vibration through the pedal even if not through the car/steering.

There is no rough idle or noise on idle.

Injectors?

DMF?

CV joint? (no clicking)

I have my concerns on a dmf? But dont these usually give much more noise and also clattering on idle?

I took the car for a good run today just to make sure things worked as they should and she pulls strong and will rev freely to 4500rpm.

(I have already replaced the MAF with a Bosch remanufactured unit as my first thought was this).

Even with the car unloaded I can now feel this very slightly as I know what to look for and can feel it on the clutch pedal when driving in gear.

Please dont say DMF.

Unfortunatly buddy id say the DMF is showing the first signs of failure however dont rush into getting it fixed yet these sound like the first symptoms ... when my dmf failed i got a further 3000 miles out of it however it rattled its t"ts off but had to save up the cash

how many miles has the car got on the clock ?

you could also try getting a crowbar or simular place one end on the bell housing the other to your ear and see if you can hear any clicking/ knocking the bar will amplify the noise

Thanks for the reply.

I will try the bar tomorrow and report back.

Current DMF is on 135k.

I don't want to risk leaving it if it is the DMF as the gearbox is still really good and I don't want to damage it.

On the other hand I dont want to fork out good money if its not that.

I did take a look at SMF kits on ebay. There is one for just 109.99. they say it has springs in the clutch plate like the valeo does.

Thats less than half the price of the Valeo unit but can it really be any good for that money?

Local garage wants £150 for fitting it.

Thats £260 when I am just not sure. *Gulp

Is it worth noting that I run on biodiesel and have done for 60k miles?

bio diesel wouldn't upset the dmf mine used to run on sunflower oil and £20 quids worth of diesel to a tank :giggle: ....

id say at that mileage youve had a good run with that Dmf

Valeo clutches are really good never known of or had an issue with them and im sure if you search the forum there should be a thread where people have had a simular issue

for £260 thats a bargain

lol, I didn't mean Biodiesel was affecting the dmf.

I was stating that incase anyone was thinking about the injectors. Namely no 3 lift injector?

I am not 100% sure on the DMF as its missing other attributes.

The miles have mainly been motorway too with little stop/starting.
