Will a Mk4 golf arm rest fit?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

quick Q, I've been offered a mint black mk4 golf arm rest with all the brackets etc required to fit the golf, but I think it'd look great in my mk1 fabia.

So basically, will this fit!?

Am searching the forum but can't seem to find the answer...

Cheers all.

Its ok, just found Mattievrs's topic about re-trimming a mk4 rest to fit!

It was my crap search wording that was the problem

I honestly did! But it didn't come up! I swear it!

does it then? yay or nay? lol (too lazy :p)

Yes it does fit. But all previous fittings have just used self tapers screwed Into the plastic of the centre console, something which I didn't like after two weeks of fitting.

So I used a mark ii fabia armrest, and using some heavy coach screws managed to attach the proper armrest mount to the car.

The golf 4 and fabia 2 armrests are very similar, so much so that I used my golf leather rest cover on my fabia 2 armrest, so i imagine the bracket on the golf rest could be modded on the same way.

Post a pic of a golf 4 armrest bracket and i maybe able to tell you whether it's possible the legit way.

Got a pic of the Fabia 2 armrest fitted mate? I've had one saved in my watch list on ebay for a while!

On my phone, check my progress thread! (link in my sig).

The golf one fits but without the mount sadly. I've since put in a mk2 fabia mount and rest and its a better fit but sits a little high unfortunately. You've obviously found the "pimped my armrest" thread, there's also info on the mk2 install in my project thread linked in this reply in my signature

I guess you need to remove the console to fit it? How do you remove the centre console?

Cheers

Ashtray unscrews then there is screws under there (IIRC). Also the little type cubby hole at the back of the centre console pulls out and then theres a screw or 2 in there then it just lifts out, you'll need to wiggle it out and pass the gear gaiter through but its all quite easy :)

2 screws under rear ashtray, pull front ashtray out and unplug light unit then remove 3 screws. Pull trim from under handbrake the pull up from the back ashtray area. Unplug fag lighter and lift console unit up and out.

Wow, while looking for one for my self I found this....... little......... beauty?.....
