Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the racks are all the same on the mk2 octavia? mine is a bit notchy and feels heavy on the steering. thanks

They are different and new ones need to be programmed and coded to the car.

how do i know which to buy? my mate has vagcom. there are a few on ebay too!

It should be programmed online though. Part numbers may be the same but you have different software depending on the steering characteristics that are loaded into it.

johnyblade, You can go ahead and get yourself an electric steering rack from any new face-lifted Octavia MK2. Just make sure you get the wiring loom that goes with the rack as well. The wiring loom from your present rack is not compatible with the new rack. You do need to code your rack with VCDS (Ross Tech) but no need for online programming.

Thanks for the replys. fitted a second hand rack off a car same year and engine code with 44k on clock kept my wiring on the car and seems to be fine. should i get it checked with vag com as there are no warning lights on. Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the thread necro but I'm having a similar problem.

My rack (1K2423055cx) needed replacing so I got one off ebay (1K2423055dx) as I couldn't find the cx anywhere.  It's fitted and works (I can drive, little heavier than before but ok) but the garage say it won't programme and so I've still got the power steering and ABS dash lights on.

Any ideas what I can do about this other than keep searching for a cx rack?

Thanks

one bump then I'll give up!

cheers
