DSG fault.

Featured Replies

Had the flashing lights of death for my DSG box.

Main dealer scanned whilst in for repair, and showed two faults indicating Mechatronic unit faulty, so rang transmission specialist, who re-built the box in June last year.

They said unit not covered by warranty as it was my old unit refitted.

Quoted me £600 to remove, send for repair, then refit.

Found the place in Derbyshire, http://www.ecutestin...earbox_ecu.html, they send them to, and website quotes repair for £250 with a lifetime warranty.

So bit the bullet, and with the help of http://www.myturbodi...faq-VW-Audi.htm, removed it and sent it off today.

Will update with what they say and how i get on.

Certainly a lot cheaper than a new mechatronics unit.

Good luck.

How many miles has the DSG got on it?

Full service history? Has the DSG oil been changed when required?

In desperation, as the council would not grant an extension on my previous, brilliant 53 plate Octavia, i bought a cat d repaired car very cheap.

I now realise it had probably been clocked.HomerDoh.jpg

Not on HPI register either.

I know, 50 and still naive enough to buy a ringer, wanker_zps8145ed81.jpgain't i?

Any way, i have done 50,000 miles in it, but had the box re-built at 25,000 due to it running out of oil, after leaking out of a badly welded repair.

No service history either.

I love the car and will buy another, hopefully the new model if i manage to sort my credit record out and save a deposit.

Meanwhile this one has to earn it's keep.
