XBMC Remote Apps on Android

Featured Replies

Anyone using any? If so, which? :)

Tried a few that I've spotted on the Play Store, but without success. As far as I can see, XBMC web server config is correct and I've added router port redirection as appropriate. Still no dice though...

Cheers,

Steve

I've used their official one with no problems, although that was with my phone connected to wifi so no port forwarding to deal with. There's two elements on XBMC you need to enable, one for the webserver and one for an event server (I think that's what they refer to it as). You need ports redirected (and firewalls opened) on both ports for it to work, worth checking if you haven't already.

Both ports done, as I saw that requirement.

OK thanks, I'll have another try with the official app.

I'll try mine later via port-forwarding, see if I have any success, as obviously my experiences from on-net won't exactly mirror yours. But the two ports thing is the only stumbling block I remember, I hadn't see the mention of the event server so I was scratching my head with it for some time...

I use the ofiicial app with no probs too on my Apple TV. However my dad has a raspberry pi and I can't get it working.

I use Yatse for my Pi. Find it far more intuitive than the official xbmc one. Enough so that I actually paid for it to support the dev. ( Its a free app, but unlocking gives you some extra skins )

Overclocked Pi @ 1GHz , Gb LAN to NAS , Samsung Galaxy S2 on 4.1. All runs flawlessly. 30 sec setup on the phone.

We use XBMoteC on the iPhone, works great. Not sure if its available on the android.

I was using Offical Remote on Android, but I think an Update broke 'time search' so I am now using:

Music Pump XMBC Remote

I was having a good play about with this last night. For some reason the App I suggested seems to lose all the metadata after a while.

I installed 'Yatse' and that was working really well. It was coping well with a large libary of 1600 films. The remote part is very detailed and you get more options if running on a Tablet.

There is an Add-on that is supposed to show Txt and Email Notificxations on your TV-

Yatse here as well, also using a rasp pi using xbian.
