Hope the link works

Just a couple of questions so far...

Why do my tail lights and number plate lights come on all the time even with the headlights/sidelights in the off position?

Also when i take key out i get a message on the display saying 'Check Deadlocks See owner's manual'

Is that normal?

Cheers

James

Happy new car Jamesderby, my wife wanted the green vrs but we had to wait for that so got a race blue instead.

I am not sure about your tail lights, ours does not put the lights on unless the fronts are on too, I would nip it back to the dealer and ask the question there, or somebody on here may be able to answer you.

The light situation sounds a bit odd and is not normal. If you leave the indicator stalk down so its in park the number plate and rear lights for that side will illuminate as a park feature. Maybe worth checking the indicator is in the off position when parked or stopped. With regards to the other message i had the same on both a Octavia and a Fabia i had on loan whilst my new engine was being fitted

.Apparently it's a new 'feature' to warn you that the doors will be deadlocked when you lock them... In case you have kids in the car, you lock the car to go do something and something happens to the car, the kids won't be able to exit the car because it's deadlocked and the unlock button inside on the drivers door won't open the doors when it's deadlocked.

As said above, that lights situation is not normal, take it back to stealers....

Congrats on the purchase!

Lights def a problem, get onto the dealer.

Warning is as said above due to default locking being deadlocks. Double tap othe locking button removes the deadlocks. After a few days you'll rarely notice the message. There is a one liner about it in the manual but quite cryptic as I remember!

I tried using that feature in my vrs and it didn't work.

Thanks guys. I'll get it booked in today for them to have a look at. Need to get them to change the unlocking so it does all the doors at same time, thought u might be able to do it on the mfd but nope.

Must say I'm really impressed with the dsg box. I've not even tried it in sport mode yet :-P

Very nice car :) The green with the Black looks great.

The light situation isn't a problem its your choice, using vagcom you can have the tail light on with the front daytime running lights. Remove the instrument panel in the drivers footwell with the car running and there is a large light switch looking switch, click it off and see if the front daytime running lights turn off then see if the tail lights have gone off too.

It's entirely your choice when you have vagcom to have the tail lights enabled or disabled when the daytime running lights are switched on, if you prefer to just have the fronts on then book it in to have the tail lights disabled.

^^ The door deadlock is as mentiones above ^^

Yeah went to the dealers today and they're gonna turn the tail lights off for me tomorrow, gonna get the locking done aswell.

She said they might not even charge me :-D lol

If a dealer tried to charge me for work a day after taking the car I'd tell them where to go.

As I did to Sytner MINI a month after purchase!

Now I'm on their books as a VIP (probably with a big star next to my name as being a pain).

Congrats on the new car, glad you enjoying it.

Very lucky with my dealer/service dept. The technician just plugged the car in and we just scrolled through all the potential settings. The Monte even beeps when you lock it :) Very understanding and no cost :)

The stealers tried to charge my wife for changing the locking etc. until she pointed out that she'd never been asked her preferences for set up prior to collecting the car, they then said they would 'waiver' the charge, not that we would have paid it anyway !

enjoy
