Checking the car over....

Featured Replies

I've got the car in the garage tonight at work to protect it from the frost, so I can leave with ease in the morning.... Checking it over, Tyres, tread, topping up washer fluid ect ect..

Decided to check the oil for the first time since it's 40,000 mile service (44k now) ... And... It's at the top of the textured area on the dipstick...

Do I need to panic yet ?!

ah, but did you dip it cold, warm or when it was hot, also if it is raining or snowing this also makes a difference so I've been told.... :giggle:

Well james, it had been about an hour since the engine had been turned off, maybe it's lying too me, I had heard it will snow on Friday, I'll check it again then !!!

BTW does your boss know you have tucked your fabia under a duvet in your place of work?

On the oil thing I have not dipped mine since SUK confirmed that their breather fix worked, so it is happy days driving and enjoying the car, track day on 9th Feb, I will check it then.

Checked mine once in 2k and still not moved

Nice one guys, wow. Have I started the first "my car uses no oil" thread ?! Lol

Sharkrider, did you withdraw the dipstick with your right or left hand? It is important :)

On a serious note, I did check mine this evening and its fine, approx 2700 miles since the new engine was installed and only about 400 mls added by the dealer when it went back after 800 miles :) hopefully that's it?

Although, if it is not consuming oil and being regularly topped up, then the oil in the engine is going to be more stressed. Should I start worrying :) :)

Damn , I can't remember which hand I used... Maybe I'll go do it again....

Oil will deffo be more stressed jerry... Go for an oil change every 50 miles to be safe and set your mind at ease...

I am looking forward to March, car is due a second service, however since the first service it has had three or four changes of oil for the two consumption tests SUK insist on new oil, I am hoping I will get the book stamped and be charged £9 for a new oil filter and labour to spin the old one off and the new one on.
