vRS DRL wierdness

Featured Replies

Either I'm going mad, or something wrong is going on.

Until recently (only noticed it a couple of days ago), Lights off - DRLs on. Lights on, DRLs off.

All of a sudden, turn the lights on and the nearside DRL goes off but the offside DRL goes from bright to dim...anyone got any ideas?

Are you sure that you never had the DRL's becoming dim and acting as the sidelights up to now?

It should be if you have DRL's activated,

DRL's on.

Turn lights on, dipped beam or full beam & the DRL's become the Sidelights, Dim.

Same if DRL's are Deactivated.

Turn on Sidelight & that is the DRL's Dim, or Headlights and DRL''s are the Sidelights.

You simply have a faulty nearside sidelight..

Fuse, relay, earth or whatever.

Never noticed them on dim before although they might have been.

Odd that the nearside one works as a (main light switch activated) DRL, just not the same as the other! Will get it checked in about a couple of weeks when its due a service.

They are the only front sidelights on the car.

Have you tried just turning on the sidelights and seeing if only the Drivers(offside) one is on? (working)

Or try the indicator stalk down to the right,

then the left with the keys out and see if each one works as a single 'Parking Light'.

Has it been in previously to the dealer? They were always changing the settings on mine.

A dealer switching off one sidelight would be a really strange thing to do.

Seems like I have the answer - NS DRL now US... OS still dims with headlights on.

Needs a service in the next week or so anyway (1500 miles to go), so will add it to the job list.
