Go pro wifi remote and/or bacpac

Featured Replies

What does the wifi bacpac actually do? Can you use the remote without it?

Unsure if i need both or just the remote to control the camera remotely from short range!?

Cheers

It depends on the model.

Some just need the remote, like the new Hero3 black.

But others (I'm guessing it's an older model as you have a Backpac) don't have wifi so you need the backpac to act as the reciever and send the command to the camera.

Ive got the hero2. What would i need?

edit i dont have anything at the moment apart from the hero2 and am looking for remote capabilities but not long range or multiple cameras

You need the Backpac on a Hero 2 to recieve the signal, it doesn't have wifi so the remote alone is of no use.

brilliant thanks! Just what i needed to know. Cheers for the advice

Can you use the remote app for Andriod and iPhone with the BackPaks? Could be a way to save a few quid if the remote itself isn't needed?

(I've got a 3, so not sure how it works with the 2).

Yeah you can mate. Im not sure on having my iphone with me and accessible though. Im after a remote way of using the camera when im out on my mtb. I do a lot of downhilling and trail riding so would be worried about smashing my phone, i think the remote would take a bit more impact than an iphone screen.
