hello,

I just bought a Skoda Octavia mk1 this week. My first Skoda it is. Its a 2001 (facelift) hatchback Ambiente in light green metallic. It has the 1.6l engine and an automatic transmission. I'm not much of an automatic guy, especially not 4 step transmissions but I'm getting lazier as I grow older I think. It's very easy to drive. It had the best history I've seen for a car this old. Only 2 owners, no crashes. Every service it has done and every MOT it has done on time and without getting anything more than a warning. Next MOT is in spring time 2014. Only has 130000 km. Quite happy about it.

I'm not new to Skoda at all, as I've driven Skodas a lot at work (Octavia mk1 and mk2 and Superb mk2). I've always liked Skodas, they have a class about them without trying too hard. I could see myself buying an Octavia mk2 with 2.0l diesel or the RS version later on. The mk3 Octavia looks very nice. But I didnt like the facelift mk2 Octavia too much. The headlights are ugly on them.

The Superb we have at work might be the best family car available today, although its not the best car for my work environment. I'm not surprised The Superb has been so highly touted in the media. DSG transmission is 2nd to none. Price is very good. Diesel engine is very nice, although a bit noisy. The space in the Superb is just unreal! It could easily go head to head with much pricier upper class models and still be very competitive.

For my current Skoda, there arent many plans I have about it. Oxygen sensor might need replacement soon. Remote Control doesnt work. I'm not sure I'm bothered to fix it as the battery on the remote is working (tried changing the battery and tried programming it) so I'm afraid it will be costly or time consuming. Getting a missing wheel cover. I'm going to order bits and pieces for it soon, mostly interior. Maybe a boot spoiler if I'll find one in the same color. Alloys I might get sooner than later. Maybe a tidy de-badge. But i'm going for a neat clean look to this one. Maybe getting a few bits and pieces from the RS or Laurin & Klement versions.

Hi and welcome aboard.
