Xenon Lights Vibration

Featured Replies

Hello...

I am having problems with my Xenon light in that, when driving on a bumpy road the vibration (shocks) seem to be transmitted (pardon my poor English, I am from Germany) onto the light and I can 'see' the vibration clearly on the illuminated area on the road

It is like the vibrating light you may sometimes see when an 'older' motorcycle comes to you.

Does anyone of you have similar experiences?

I know it sounds strange but depending on the state of the road I find this quite irritating and believe me here in the North East some of the roads are in quite a bad state...

Thanks for your advice & help

It is the same on the Fabia vRS Xenons.

I think it's coz it's trying to auto-level but it can be annoying

I too have this problem. I think it is normal, as it is just trying to auto-level at the same time. It is very annoying!

I also get this effect with my Xenon lights (2003 L&K) but have now got used to it - I suspect it is actually much more annoying to other road users ;)

I still wouldn't be without Xenon lights now though

John.

I think JayTee you nailed it on the head there ;) I totally agree.

Not been flashed by anyone for ages :D

Same problem as Jags. There is an electrically operated metal masking plate which covers part of the light output in dip mode and unmasks in full beam mode. Unfortunately when the plate hits it end stop, it makes a noise. To cure this the lamp manufacturer put a rubber buffer to absorb impact. Unfortunately now, the plate bounces on the rubber! The effect is particularly annoying for other road users so I'd suggest the dealer has a look.

THe Octy2 Xeons are not Bi-Xenon, Main beam is on a different non Xenon bulb, therefore I don't think this plate you talk of is at all right.

vibration is purely down to the floating bulb vibrating with the road surface. Self levelling is motor driven from an angle sensor on the front suspension leg but the bulb by definition is not fixed in place and so has some vibration movement on normal roads. All perfectly normal with Xenons

As I don't have Xenons, I wasnt aware main beam was a normal halogen. Cheers for the correction.

This is a common problem, my Golf suffers from it too.

Still, I would never be without Xenon's either!
