they seem to do cracking prices, and deliver to your door...

fabia II vRS with metallic paint and black wheels,,, £14171 brand new NOT pre registered

Wonder who they are using as a supplying main dealer supplier now??

Quite a few on here have used DtD without issue, all they do is get you a very good price then put you in touch with the dealer, the rest of your contact is direct through the dealer.

Don’t expect as much 1 on 1 contact with the salesman when you collect the car, but with a few grand saving on the car and a salesman who probably knows less about the car than an enthusiast will know… who cares?

I bought my Superb through Broadspeed as they were a couple of hundred quid cheaper than DtD (they operate very similar to DtD) but I would never use them again.

Mine was supplied by Telfords of Carlisle, I would also avoid them at all costs in the future as I do not appreciate being lied to and should not have needed SUK to intervene to resolve the situation.

Oh dear. Doesnt sound like you had a good experience.

I would use DTD in a heartbeat unfortunately i always have a car to trade in. I could always sell mine then hire a car while i wait for the new one but it just seems a hassle.

Must admit though DTD do seem to be very very cheap if you browse through the special offers. Some of them seem to good to be true.

I have quoted DTD prices to several dealers before but none could ever match their prices.

indeed, I was thinking (especially as i would have trade in) that it may be better to approach my local (and very good I may add) dealer , simply armed with a DTD quote, to start negotiations! (still havent decided if may keep mine this year though! lol..)

I've looked at the prices on Broadspeed and DTD but in the end have always gone with a local dealer because they can get close enough.

Even if they can't match it, I'm happy paying a few hundred more for keeping local people employed and building a relationship with the local dealer for when I have a problem.

This is the important bit IMO, I gave ALL of the local and not so local dealers the chance to get close to the Broadspeed price, out of IIRC 12 dealers I approached only about 4 bothered to return my correspondence at all, but non of them would come within a couple of grand of the Broadspeed price… my car was even specced with nearly £3k worth of options on it so I am sure they could of done something if they had really wanted to??

Not sure about DtD but I know Broadspeed offer the p/x service as well… IIRC it’s the supplying dealer who will offer the p/x price.

They may not have been my local dealer, but they are somebody’s local dealership. Ultimatly though you never know who the supplying dealer will be until the order has been accepted.

There are posts on here about customers going to Telfords (who the poster knew were a Broadspeed / DtD supplier) yet they refused to give ANY discount at all, how pi**ed off would you be knowing you had just paid a couple of grand over what you could have paid for the same car from the same dealer?

Yes, some dealers don't seem to want to bolster their numbers with low profit sales, instead relying on low volume and high profit margins.

When my cousin in Guildford was looking for a Yeti her local dealer said there were no discounts or haggling on any Yeti models as they were in demand.

So I just bought one from Preston Motors for her instead. :)

But every penny you squeeze in the purchase, you will pay in the servicing later on. DtD is just a race to the bottom that benefits none in the long term. Saves you a couple of quid now, but in a years time when your local retailer closes, and you have to take a day off work etc... I think DtD type places are just bad overall for the long term relations industry.

Anyhow it removes the service / satisfaction part of the process, so your local guys should get closer, or close enough you can still smile and get a free coffee of them.

Can't really agree with this. Most dealers make more profit from used sales, servicing and spares than they do on new car sales, therefore it doesn't really make too much difference where you buy the car from as long as you have it serviced within the dealer network.

Judging by the attitude you get from many new car sales people at the mention of the word "discount" it's hardly suprising that places such as DtD, etc. are thriving. We've used them before and are about to use them again.

Each to their own I suppose. My view from personal experience is I will continue to support my locall dealer, which is a local family owned business. I'm probably way behind quite a few in that I'm only on my 2nd Skoda, but both were bought from the same place.

Why? the service I have recieved has been excellent, nothing has been too much trouble and the trade in I was offered on both occasions was better than I was expecting. When I visit the dealer I am personally greeted each time by name and know most of the staff there too.

No doubt you can guess what my next car will be and where I'll be getting it from. I may have been able to get a slightly better deal elsewhere i I'd spent the time looking but TBH to me it's not all about getting the cheapest deal. I'm after the best overall package.

Problem is Skoda themselves squeezed many such dealers to the wall in favour of corporate cut-glass dealerships in the transformation to VAG. We had a brilliant Skoda dealer close to home operating out of a Shed, but they couldn't afford the new corporate image. Also all our 'local' dealers have been taken over by one Skoda favoured network. Hardly good for competition or a strve for good service.

I've just ordered a Superb Elegance from my local dealer who, after taking the cost of delivery to Aberdeenshire in to consideration, came very close to DtD price so I ordered from them. That way the dealer is still making some cash on the deal and I don't have to go cap in hand to them when something goes wrong having bought it down south. Everyone's a winner.

I guess there were many former Skoda dealers such as yours who didn't survive the transformation, which is a pitty if they were giving good service. I can understand what you mean too as 1 of the dealers local to me is a multifranchise/multi dealership network. The difference in how I was treated when I went to see about buying my 1st Octy was staggering, they offered me a poor part ex deal against a car I didn't want (which they had in stock) and didn't even look on the national stock list to see what was available. Needless to say they didn't get my business.

Guess if that's the (lack of) service your likely get locally there's not much incentive to be loyal to the dealer network, Something Skoda need to think about
