My Montes 3rd (my first) Service

Featured Replies

Well i was a virgin till today lol

Never taken my previous cars to a garage (most of my friends and family including me work in the trade) so alway done it myself with my Brother.

But due to it still being in Warranty i thought best to send to the dealer (I know you don't have to but prefer to)

Well the Fabia hit 29,000 and was due an oil change so not exactly a painful experience.

Took it to Sherlodge Garage Gillingham (where i brought it July) first impressions of the service department wasn't staggering but not a negative lol

Altho the guy at the counter wasnt rude didnt feel overly welcome either lol but its a sat morning and TBF i hate the sat morning shift , so didnt take an offence to really.

Confirmed the booked job (plus the fact i was supplying my own oil) and two issue i felt maybe warranty )

After an hour all done .

The chap sat me went thru the check sheets obviously nothing came up as only 11 plate, he advised both iwarranty issues i mentioned would not be covered, explained why.

1. Seat base wear on out bolster - he showed me guidelines from skoda relating to seat issues i agree that the issue regarding my seat obviously fell in bracket of excess wear through friction. So nothing further said (int he back of my head im thinking new seat base then leather retrim perhaps??)

2.rear Defuser moved away from bumper (right on drivers side corner) - the tech advised him it was most like caused buy and outside source (ie some has nudged it someway. Which im 50/50 i dont think the way of which its left the service of the bumper is poor fittment but i cant see evidence on impact.

Again i took this no further because

1- with no real evidence to support me or them, and the fact its doesnt really casue major harm i didnt see the point of pushing it

2- its fixable with a little sealant (why mention this anyway you may ask - warranty there is there for a reason so i thought id try lol)

So in a nutshell not memorable but not bad lol

Whilst waiting though it did give me the chance to sit and observe the reception staff, and it seems one of the two is very helpful and knowledgeable where the other seems a little less eager/approachable.

That not say his not good at what he does just first impressions really.

Next one is due 39,000 or 01/14 (most likely to happen 07/12) lol

Hi crash thought you had a Monte not a TARDIS :giggle:

But thanks for your thoughts and interesting comment on seat wear; my lads 59 plate Fabia 1 has this on the centre panel of the drivers seat back and again not covered by warranty, put down to abrasive clothing wear by the previous owner :wonder: Would have thought mind seating fabric should be a little more robust for 25,000 miles of use.

Good post.

So what gets done at a 3rd 30,000 mile service done in 1 hour & what does it cost.?

Was it just the Oil & Filter change, Fluids checked and inspection carried out.

Has it had the Brake fluid changed yet & the brake drums off, ie the last service,

or will that be done at 36 months old or next service?

It was oil change plus top up washer fluid and visual inspection no wheels off.

Techincally the brake Fluid will be Due in April 2013

It cost 75-00 (i supplied my own castrol oil) dealer uses quatum should of been 120

Seat wear is annoying BUT its the foam in bolster breaking up on the wire frame which is fustrating.

At this point its bothering so will attend to it at later notice if need.

As atm its on a 5 year finance but toyin with the idea of tradin it inat the end of the warranty
