Featured Replies

hi guys was wondering if any of you new which trickle charge battery chargers were any good looked at a cpl of 4 watt ones on ebay but want something half decent thats gonna last a while any of u guys have any reccomendations that arent silly money

You can, if lucky, find cheap auto-cut off trickle chargers in Lidl

Crude version of the more expensive CTek types

Ctek rings a bell :D

That may be what i use

Clicks on to top up as the voltage drops rather than content charge

I've got ctek 3.6 and just bought the 5 for my dad from amazon

Yh ctek are the best I have 2 one for car and one for the bikes, had mine 4yrs now and goes on the bike every winter still works a treat!!

As mentioned earlier Ldil have recently sold a cheaper version of the C-Tek type chargers. I picked on up for £13.99 and it covers 6 / 12V and has a variable charging rate, as well as the option to revive totally dead batteries. I tried this on a totally discharged battery and it seemed to have worked! (took 3 days though).

I understand the C-Tek type charger can be used with the battery connected to the car, whereas the instructions with the Lidl charger recommend disconnecting it completely.

i have 2, a ctek 5.0 iirc and a aldi one for 13.99 also, the aldi ones specs are not as good, and as said, they do not suggest charging in car with the terminals connected (due to spikes apparently dangering the in car electrical system) whereas the ctek one encourages use like this. So i use them both slightly differently. But at 13.99 you cant go wrong, think they were doing them at lidl last week as it goes.

Ah! I just saw this charger at Lidl 2 weeks ago ,but I thought it is rubbish.

Now I'm sorry I didn't bought it

I've had the Aldi one for about 4yrs, I just bung it on the battery and leave it connected, I don't worry about spikes though as it's for the Mk1 Escort and the P6b Rover. The Aldi one isfar better than the old school chargers and the Escort doesn't get started for six months sometimes, on with the Aldi charger, 24hrs later it spins like a good un.
