Mk1 Fabia Vrs to be replaced by 1600cc MC.

Featured Replies

My wife & I test drove the 1600cc tdi 105bhp Monte Carlo yesterday....now she wants a new one - fitted with the Amundsen Sat-Nav system!

Amongst the advantages is the saving on RFL...AND maybe a just a little more to the gallon!

The dealer offered £4750 for her Vrs (39000miles / 07 plate) I reckon that I should try selling privately because the dealer would make a good profit selling it on? Any suggestions / experience of Vrs prices out there....?

Has anyone seen an MC with Sat-Nav fitted?

When I was looking on autotrader 07 plates with low miles are attracting around 7 grand !

An 07 plate with those miles is comfortably worth £6k imho

When we were looking for swmbos monte the dealers had one with sat nav in there but didn't see it in operation as it was a customer car which was going out that day so could only have a short look over it

Stop, this will not save you anything, quite the opposite, you'll be spending thousands and thousands of pounds to 'save' an insignificant amount resulting in a loss.

You do very few miles, switching from a diesel to another diesel with similar economy won't make any noticeable difference in terms if cost per mile or your annual fuel bill though the mpg may look better it's the cost figure you need to look at.

Next the RFL, yes you pay less on a newer smaller diesel engine, but lets work out how much it'll cost you to save that money. Deducting the MC's RFL cost from the VRS's will give you your yearly 'saving'. Now lets see how long it'll take to save some money, work out how much (including fee's/interest if it's financed or paid using any kind of credit) your VRS cost you, deduct the p/x valuation from this figure, this is how much you're writing off in depreciation, think about how long you had to work to pay for that?

Now lets look at the new car, wire down the price you are paying (inc. fees/finance again if you're using it) and deduct the p/x valuation, this is how much you're paying on top to 'save' the difference in RFL, now work out how many years you'll have to keep the MC to save anything by dividing the figure you're paying on top of the VRS p/x price by the RFL saving each year, it's not going to be pretty is it?

Remember when you come to sell it'll have depreciated even more money, more quickly as it's newer, you certainly won't have saved anything.

I'm not saying don't buy a new car if you want to, but be aware of the costs involved and please don't con yourself into thinking it'll save you anything, that's the sales persons job :)

I'm with Avalon on this if saving cash is the aim... except thet I would have made the word "Stop", bigger, capitals and bright red with an exclaimation mark.

i'd keep the 07 its worth 7500k and in 4 years will still be worth 4k

can't be that unreliable and 120 rd tax is it??

think my fabias about 175 or 190 thinking of getting a coupe as it aint much more in tax and what petrol im putting in lol
