vRS boost problems

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to skoda (just purchased a mk1 vRS) after driving golf gti's for the past 14years. I love it and it is sooooooooo much better than my golfs..

Anyway I have noticed a slight problem with power (not all the time) and the use of the turbo. 50% of the time its fine and pulls like a train (infact scares the **** out of me), then other times it just feels normal and all flat like it was a standard 1.8 20v engine with no turbo. I have listened out the window and the turbo is not whistling like other times (only slightly)??? I also noticved that the revs can be a little inconsistent too! When the turbo isnt working (or it feel like it isnt, probably just on low boost) the car is idling around 1100rpm, but when all is good revs appear to be around 900rpm. There's no smoke, oil consumption funny noises other than every now and again it feel like my turbo has been turned off??? This is leading to to think electricial, specificially Air Mass Sensor?????????????? What do you guys think? I have run it on the diagnostics and nothing came out related to that?? (but might not if the fault is intermittent and all was ok at that point??? looking for some advice on this guys..... I'm sure its not a serious issues and just a sensor (i hope).

Any advice and support is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Paul

PS anyone look for a golf GTi convertible? (i'm moving on!!!!)

Might be the actuator that is being temperamental. Its a little tricky to change but my guess is the boost controller or the actuator.
