One is an 02 plate hatch with 144k and 2 cambelt changes. £2.2k

The other is an estate. 03 with 149k on it. But an airbag light on it £1.9k

What should I look for as worrying signs that could cost heaps of money?

I might also see what I can get at the auctions too.

Both are diesels.

Buy a VRS petrol mate, much more fun :-) especially in yellow, I know one that will be up for sale soon :think:

Its a nice thought. But my car is £270 a year in road tax 31mpg overall which is why I am looking at changing. For a bit of fun I looked at a rolls royce to see about tax on that and it turns out that it is £220 for a roller!

35mpg average, mid 40's on a run. It's surprising how economical they are.

I'd say they were both £700 over if private sale. Not worth paying the premium from a dealer really, by that age.
