Audi A4 Avant 2.0T & 1.8T

Featured Replies

As some of you may all ready know, I will be putting the Octy up for sale shortly as I'm starting a new job soon which will supply me with a company van to use to and from work. The Mrs won't drive the Octy so she will have to go (the Octy that is, not the Mrs lol). The plan is to sell both my Octy and the Mrs Fusion and buy something newer and better. I've been having a good look around and one car that does seem to tick all the boxes is the A4 Avant in either 1.8T or 2.0T guise 2005 onwards. Just wondered if any body had any experience of these at all? Any thing major to look out for etc?

I know this is maybe not the best place to post this but the other sections on here can be a bit scary lol.

Thanks In Advance

i think the fsi engines are the earlier ones after the 1.8t, and are cambelt driven rather than the later revised (stronger iirc) chain driven tfsi.

as to whether the 1.8t is better than the earlier 2.0ts i cant answer, but am sure someone knows.

why won't she drive the octavia? the A4 avant is a similar, powerful, big car. I'd either be getting her told or look for a different more suitable car

The three main reasons she won't drive the Octy are:

  1. Its A Skoda
  2. Its Biright Red
  3. Its On Coilovers

Its nothing to do with the size of the car just more how it looks lol. I'd be more than happy for her to drive the Octy but she has no intention of doing so - so it makes sense to sell both and get something we can both enjoy.

women are an odd lot, soz dude! sucks you have to get rid of your car!

Ha ha. Yes Ken - now you see what I'm up against lol. Saying that though, its been a really good car for the time we've had it and it was her first car as she only passed her test 2 years ago so I can't complain really. I'm not too fussed about selling the Octy tbh as I came from a lot newer, more luxurious and faster car in the first place, only sold it to fund a house purchase and now things are looking up it will be nice to get a newer car again.

By no means am I knocking the Octy vRS as I would defo have another one at some point maybe as a weekend toy, they offer good performance and a geeky coolness for next to no money.

oh dear, no saving you then!

Kinda reminds me in a way of a women at my work who is skint, but had to buy a "quality car" ie.e (german brand) after her last one was smashed, can barely afford to run it newish german car, scared to drive it in bad weather, can hardly operate the 6 speed box or climate. Why the hell she didn't just buy a supermini is beyond me.
