Brake pad upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello guys, after some suggestions.

I am looking at putting some new pads on the vrs as I believe it could be a worthwhile upgrade over the oem pads - but I am struggling deciding which ones.

EBC green stuff - heard mixed reviews about these

Feroda - not sure which one

Mintex - again not sure which one

Any suggestions would be great. Also part numbers would be great as I've searched all the above and none specify the Fabia vrs as a compatible vehicle.

Many thanks.

Stu.

What's your budget?

I had DS2500 before they are good. Now running Mintex M1144 pads which aren't as good as the ferrodo.

Anything which fits the Polo GTI 6R will fit the fabia.

I went for Yellow stuff but for track and not road, I spoke to EBC and they explained that early pads produced by a third party were sometimes not as they should be, they are now and have been for a while manufacturing the pads in house and quality has improved, this has been confirmed by a few of my rally mates.

Anyway, cheapest I could find any pad delivered was from Larkspeed in Leeds.

Don't really want to go more than 50 or 60 quid.

Ideally need to be fast road use, not track pads.

I'm guessing there will be a difference, don't want to spend loads upgrading to 312mm although it would be nice.

DS2500 are approx 130. M1144s typically £20 ish cheaper. With that budget just go OEM. Quality costs with brakes, there's alot out there which are worse than stock

Would a big difference be noticed with the DS2500 over oem?

On a trip to the shops no, but a bit of back lane/A road bashing yes

I've had Ferodos on another car. If you want to see a noticeable difference, you need to spend a bit more and go for them. They're worth every penny. You won't regret it.

Nice one lads, given me something to think about anyway. Anyone got a part number for the Ferodo pads, I'm struggling a bit? Cheers.

Green Stuff used to be awful (personal experience),they may have improved now,do you want to take the risk?

M1144 ferodo are a good compromise and may be cheaper through a normal motor factor than a tuning company.

If your local motor factor does ferodo stuff, they will be able to source them easily.
