Slime Mountain bike Tyre Sealant?

Featured Replies

anyone used this stuff? does it work?

It depends on the punctures you are prone to, drop on to a big jaggy boulder and the tyre will still go BANG but if its thorns and small niks its effective enough, more of a get you home thing....is it MTB you do ?

There is a company that puts it in car tyres too.

Lots of SMART owners use it - no spare carried, they seem to like it although some report balancing issues.

nothing too hardcore, just general offroading around the local lakes.

Just bought a wicked Giant bike, complete with disk brakes!

Yes I have used it. it did seem to help for little punctures. you need to undo the valve to get it in. I have a feeling I had a problem with the valve or something after a while, but its going back a few years.

Echo A-B Girl.

Made a right old mess of my valves on my previous bike (the one that got knicked, not the one I sold on here)

Couldn't pump up the tyres at all without it coming out - but i suspect that was a dodgy valve on the cheap inner tube I'd put in.

You can actually buy inner tubes that have that sort of stuff already in them from halfrauds(well, a ribbon of tape filled with it around them at least!)

For small stuff it's quite good. Colleague here at work had a Claud Butler bike for a while, and, being a theft magnet, was most upset one evening riding home from work when a bunch of local scrotes threw a mix of broken glass and rose-bush branches into her path.........

Pfft. pfftt..

But no flats. She replaced the tyres about three weeks later as a precaution.

If you do get something bigger than a tiny hole though, you're a bit stuffed. Puncture repair kits won't stick to the tyre. That's why i never took my Skoda dealer up on the offer of "Pro-tec tyre sealant" , it's essentially the same as Slime.....

well I bought the inner tubes with slime in yesterday... I'm looking at getting some new tyres as they are a bit on the skinny side of things!

Disks breaks are wicked though!
