Lower Wing Mirror Cover Shattered !

Featured Replies

Driving to work this morning and at a tight bridge, someone rattles my drivers wing mirror and this has shattered the lower cover !! ARGH !

Does anyone know the part number of the lower cover ? As the brown tape isn't looking to good !

It is a newish car only had it and month and looking at the diagram here :- http://skoda.workshop-manuals.com/fabia-mk2/index.php?id=547

it might be better to have Skoda do it rather messing about with it.

Just checked the car again, and got a hairline scratch from the mirror right up the side of the car FFS !!!

Hopefully I will be able to polish it out, if not will have to resort to trusty T-cut, what you guys reckon is the best way ?

I'm confused, how did you manage to brake the cover and get the scratch?

The car coming the opposite direction hit the mirror and forced it back, they must of been that close their wing mirror has touched my car right along the side of the car.

Thankfully it hasn't broke the paint or dented it as far as i can see.

Called the dealers and the lower cover is 7 pounds, but not sure about messing with by almost new car due to the electrics and mirror alignment.

Do you guys reckon I should give it a try, or just pay to get it installed at the dealers ??

Also what should I use to take the hairline scratch out of the drivers and passengers door, it only a hairline and I cannot feel it under my nail, should I try polish first on its own or T-cut then polish ???

Cheers

I polish out minor scratches with Brasso, it works a treat. A guy from Fords put me on to it.

All fixed now , and good service from Hughes Skoda, Farnham Common. Still need to get the mark out on the doors though is brasso really worth using as I would have to buy it.

I was thinking of just getting white colour magic. Or will i need a cutting agent to remove it ?

On a side note asked about changing the monte for a VRS, but was only offered 9k for my 2,500mls 62-plate monte, I paid 12k for it at the end of the year, so I will be forgetting that one unless I can sell privately. I thought I would of at least got 11k or 10.5k, I am sure they could sell it for 11.5 or 12k.

They are car dealers not a charity ....like you i was going to change my 61 plate Fabia 1.2 TSI 1 year old today 8.500 mls and was offered £7500 paid £10k We buy any car offerd £7650 Will just reinsure it for another year and keep it .

Brasso works brilliantly and cost peanuts to buy, just apply it with a soft cloth in small circles and small scratches will polish out. When you have finished be sure to wax over where you have polished. The brasso isn't as abbrasive as T-cut so it hardly cuts your paint, it even works on plastic trim.

I guy from Fords put me on to it and I have used it for years.
