RCA on Audience

Featured Replies

Does someone know whether the Audience is supplied with RCA exit to be able to connect a subwoofer?

Marco

I think that the audio output is special on this unit, i've not seen the back of the audience, but i think there's no rca connection available.

bump! :)

anyone know if its possible to connect an external amp to the audience?(to a subwoofer),

doesnt the audience already have a seperate amp under the seat owing to driving more speakers than the stream?

so i read aswell, but i doubt it will have enough power to run a real subwoofer. ie DLS UR10-15".

or do u mean that the separate amp under the seat is connected using an RCA connection? why didnt think of that!!! :bonk:

my new vRS should come this week so i cant check that yet! :(

The Audience PLUS has an additional amp (with the extra speakers).

i orderd the audience and the 12 speaker setup, is that the one that have the amp under the seat?

Yep. If you want to fit a sub, It will be better to fit a separate amp to run the sub. You can use the speaker wires that go into the under seat amp as the sound feeds for the amp. The best place for the ignition feed is from the back of the climate control panel.

not that I have doen this, of course ;)

I find the left hand set of fuses on the fuse board are ideal for ignition supply myself :)

There are some spares in the smaller set of fuses, plug in a new connector for the O.E look.

 Good call Lummox. You suggested this before and that's what I did with my Parrot kit. I'll have to give you some +ve feedback on that once i figure out how to do it

As Roo said it's best to put in a separate amp for this. The Skoda amp isn't that powerful. It's basically the same thing as you get in the standard HU but with 50% extra electronics to drive the additional 4 speakers. No hope of driving any type of sub from that.

From what I can see there is a mini iso connector on the back of the Audience HU and the preouts come from this to the amp. I have the stream which also has this connection but i'm not sure if it's enabled. It would be great if it was but i'd also need someone to take a photo of the connections on the rear of an audience with the + amp setup to work out the wring. Any takers? I know i'm a cheeky sod.

so basically i should make an Y split on the cables that go from the Audience Hu to the skoda Amp and then connect them to the high level input on a real amp?

why o why cant the make real rca connections on the HU, so stupid not to.:(

http://www.dls.se/english/fstark/a7n.htm (got this one now in my rs(1), but i cant use it in the new octavia rs)

http://www.dls.se/english/fstark/cad15.htm (so im switching to this and only connecting a subwoofer, think this solution will be great, but not as good as the solution that i have in my rs(1) with real low level inputs and so on)

You would connect to the RCA of the real amp. The outputs from the HU are linelevel from my understanding. Need to be careful.

That would be too easy

you mean low level?, that would be great!!!!. is it a standard RCA connection on the skoda amp? :orb_jump_

sorry yes low level. i was tired ok

you just made my day!

i hope its a standard rca connection aswell, i was to the skoda dealer today. but no car yet :mecry:

no chance. it will be some sort of VAG group multiway connector.

Disclaimer

I would check disconnect the amp and head unit and then use a multimeter or a continuity tester to identify the connections at each end just in case the skoda amp does take high level inputs from the HU. It's very unlikely but you never know. Wouldn't want damage anything. If you post a photo of the radio connector i'll be able to tell you whether it uses high or low level.

I know this is an old thread!

But has anyone added amplifiers to their Audience HU?

Is there an RCA output behind or do we need to use a Line out converter
