Octa vrs caliper problem

Featured Replies

Help. Mot is coming up and my NSF caliper is being a pain in the a....

Changer rear discs and pads. Checked handbrake efficiency nod the NSF one is not holding. For some reason when you come off the brake pedal the piston goes back in to far as if its being sucked back so when you put on the handbrake it just doesn't hold. Other side is fine...

Anyone come across this one?

Cheers

Tim

Err the nsf means the near side front lol

Think you mean the nsr or near side rear lol

Have you checked the linkage to see if it's moving freely?

Oops was a bit tired. I mean the rear. Have checked everything and narrowed it down to the caliper.

Thanks tim

Did you use a proper caliper wind back tool when you changed the pads?

Just had mine changed for the mot and the handbrake feels just the same as when it went in, which is just right lol

Yup nicked my mates garage.

Reara are crap mate. They dont laat long. Might be am idea to get another or try strip it and get a refurb kit of the bay of flea.

I am gonna do that with the set off my octy and if it works ill do the other set I have on the fabia then sell on.

Let us know what you do.

Billy

Think I was lucky in that case Billy as my rear discs were really worn down as was the pads as they were metal to metal lol.

Was gonna do them myself but chickened out due to the weather and being lazy, so got a mechanic I use to do them which cost me £30 add that to £60 for pajid discs and pads it cost me £90 to get though the mot. Not bad in my opinion as it was actually due in November, wasn't till swmbo mentioned about her friend's car failing that I remembered!
