How to reset service due light

Featured Replies

I recently had my Octavia serviced at Benfield Skoda in Newcastle. It didn't go to plan and when I collected it (7 days later!) I noticed they hadn't stamped the service record book. I then drove all the way back to wales and noticed that they haven't reset the computer which is telling me the service is due. They're now telling me to take it to the nearest dealer (40 miles away) to have it reset but I know you can do it yourself but I can't remember how??

Its a 2007 car with maxidot and I'm trying to keep it on a fixed service schedule.

Thanks.

On the Mk1 you could do it with a series of button/stalk pushes but I don't know if that is still the case. If you have a vcds owner nearby they will be able to do it.

?

Press the reset button with the ignition switched off and and hold it down.

?

Switch the ignition on, release the reset button. The text Service or SERVICE NOW

appears in the display.

?

Turn the button for setting the clock to the right - as a result of this the display is reset

The details are in the owners handbook.

VCDS is only needed for variable servicing, for fixed you can DIY.

Thanks. I'll have a look when back from work in two weeks. The fact that a"Master Tech" says it can only be done by the dealer if its in the owners manual beggars belief. But then it did take them 6 days to diagnose a faulty air mass meter...

Resetting Service Interval Display

It is only possible to reset the Service Interval Display, if a service message or at least a pre-warning is shown in the instrument cluster display.

We recommend that this reset is completed by a specialist garage.

The specialist garage:

resets the memory of the display after the appropriate inspection;

adds an entry to the Service Schedule;

affix the sticker with the entry of the following service interval to the side of

the dash panel on the driver's side.

Reset the service interval display by using the knob » Fig. 2.

On vehicles which are equipped with the information display, you can reset the Service Interval Display in the menu Settings » page 19.

Since they forgot to stamp the book and reset the indicator, could they have also forgotten to actually carryout the service at all.

I'm beginning to think so! I won't be taking a car back there for service work.
