Clearing misty windscreen

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Anyone come up with a quick or good method yet of clearing the windscreen on the inside first thing in the morning.

I have tried switching the A/C on with full blower but it still takes ages to clear. :nerd:

Any advice or tips greatly appreciated.

Cheers

heated windscreen, sorry if your air con does not clear the screen in 2-3 minutes there must be some thing wrong with it.unless you have it on recirculation

Have you tried any of these anti mist treatments? Not sure how good they are. I always find wiping it makes the screen look awful when the sun hits it, although I do keep a micro fibre cloth to hand in case I need to clear it in a hurry.

If your windscreen is very misty its probably a result of dampness in the car - run the aircon more often, make sure windows are tightly shut, clear any leaves out of the air intake vents (where the can block drainage holes). I also find a good clean with windowlene helps.

The Octavia is well known for condensation issues.

The A/C doesn't work below 4 degree's.

The best way to remove moisture from the cabin is to get the interior nice and warm.

Lot's of short journey's prevents this and over time the carpets and seats absorb plenty of moisture which accumalates of the inside of the windscreen.

I hit the heated windscreen switch in mine, it's clear in a couple of minutes.

Please don't laugh too loud....

According to the boss (she saw it in Womans Own or some such) a pot of salt does the trick.....?

I'd take that with a pinch of salt :giggle: It can help reduce the humidity in the car though but a lot of people use a cheap 99p dehumdifier from ASDA (other supermarkets are available) available in the cleaning aisle.

Pour a few litres of just warm water over the outside before you get in. The Leon's blower isn't that good (the outlet doesn't cover the large screen well), so this is what I do.

I find when I haven't cleaned the windows for a while it mists up easier. I also keep a silicon bags in the car to help dry. A difference in temp mists it up too, ie when I came back from sports it goes uber misty, so ideally don't jump in the car straight after sports/gym/shower lol.

Car pro fog fight is very good product for stopping your windows misting up

I got a couple of dehumidifiers off ebay, similar to the 99p ones from asda, but these are in a long nylon bag, 2 sachets of crystals in each 1. Think I paid about £15 for 2 and put 1 in each car-not had any misting since and they're reusable too apparently you have to stick em on a radiator in the house to dry them out. Each one weighs about a kilo and supposedly will absorb nearly their own weight in moisture.
