Fabia 1 Throttle body?

Featured Replies

I've just run a scan on SWMBO's Fabia 1 as she had problems starting it earlier this week (we suspected that the light switch was faulty and the lights had been on for a while - which it isn't). No EML on the dash either.

This is the scan (faulty modules only):

01598 - Drive Battery Voltage

07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

The Central Electric fault points to a dodgy battery or charging which I can deal with, but the '16825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys' suggests another issue.

I looked up the fault code on Ross Tech Wiki and found this which I am clueless about, but does (from looking on this forum) suggest the throttle body:

16825/P0441/001089 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) faulty/jammed
  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115) faulty/jammed
  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Sealing faulty
  • Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body leaky/blocked

Possible Solutions

  • Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
    • Perform Output Test

[*]Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115)

    [*]Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister

    • Perform Basic Setting

[*]Check Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body

Is 'N80' the throttle body? What's 'N115'?

How do I perform the 'output test' (or the 'Perform Basic Setting' of the EVAP Canister)?

If anyone can confirm what these issues relate to, I will do more hunting around on this forum and see what I can dig up about cleaning the throttle body (if it is) and the basic setting.

Thanks for any pointers in the right direction.

While I am not positive, I believe you will have either the N80 or the N115 in your car. The attached picture is an overview of the Evap system.

And the N80/N115 is at the top of the diagram... As said, I think you have one or the other (N80 or N115). If you do a search, there are a bunch threads around the internet dealing with the Evap system and how to go about testing/fixing.... http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4191145-CEL-with-code-from-vag-com

To perform the output test, you need to connect factory scan tool to the car and then select the engine and the output tests... You may also need to perform a Basic setting. And last, you can test the whole system by setting the Readiness.

Since you have found the Ross-Tech Wiki, perhaps you should go to the Official Factory Repair Information, and purchase a day at the Skoda site so you can pull the information needed to repair your car.

Thank you so much for taking the time to put up all that useful info - especially the links which I will read through tomorrow.

You've also confirmed a suspicion that I had in that is find either an N80 or an N115 on the car - not both.
